Arboretum Uncorked - Tour Selected Wines & Culinary Delicacies - 1/29

“Arboretum Uncorked” Offers Tour of Selected Wines & Culinary Delicacies from 6 Top Eateries

Fundraiser features two Cooper’s Hawk Illinois wines selected for the 2009 Presidential Inaugural Gala

SOUTH BARRINGTON, Ill. (January 15, 2009) – The public is invited to sample selected wines, hand-crafted chocolates, and delectable appetizers from six fine restaurants as they tour “Arboretum Uncorked,” on Thursday, January 29, 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at The Arboretum of South Barrington.

The charity soiree, to benefit the Alexian Brothers Children’s Hospital, will begin at Pinstripes Bowling, Bocce & Bistro, where a complimentary shuttle will transport guests participating restaurants. These include Pinstripes, Cooper’s Hawk Winery & Restaurant, Village Roadshow Gold Class Cinemas, Ruth’s Chris Steak House, L’Eiffel Bistrot & Creperie and Anna Shea Chocolates & Lounge. The shuttle will provide constant service throughout the evening, allowing guests to sample at their leisure.

Tickets are $20 per person in advance and $30 at the door, with 100% of the proceeds benefiting the new Alexian Brothers Children’s Hospital, which will break ground in the near future.

Inaugural Wine: Featured among the wines will be two of the Cooper’s Hawk wines that were selected to pour at the Illinois State Society’s 2009 Presidential Inaugural Gala in Washington, DC on January 19, the night before President-elect Barack Obama is sworn into office – the Cooper’s Hawk Pinot Gris and Cooper’s Hawk Shiraz. These and other selected labels from the Willow Springs-based winery will be the only Illinois wines represented during the inaugural evening.

Fundraising Project: “If you’ve always wanted to sample some of the wines and light fare from The Arboretum restaurants, it’s a great value that also helps provide a much needed children’s hospital for the northwest suburbs,” says Michael Jaffe, developer of the new 600,000 square-foot town center. He says that because population growth in the area has increased the demand for a state-of-the art medical facility for children, he intends to assist the building of the new hospital with similar support in the future. “This is one of the charities we’ve selected to partner with for the long haul,” he says.

“This kind of business partnership in the community is the only way we can build this hospital,” says Kari Dwyer of Alexian Brothers Foundation, which began raising funds for the hospital in October 2007.

To secure tickets in advance with a credit card, call Kari Dwyer of the Alexian Brothers Foundation at (847) 385-7304. Will Call and registration will be located in the Pinstripes lobby. Parking is provided. For event information, call The Arboretum of South Barrington at (847) 426-6200.

The Arboretum of South Barrington is a 600,000 square-foot retail town center in Chicago’s affluent northwest suburbs that opened in September 2008. The open-air center is named for the lush treescapes and gardens, and for the large tree farm that formerly stood on the site. Among retailers at The Arboretum of South Barrington are three unique anchors, including LL.Bean’s first Midwest outdoor gear and apparel store; the country’s first Village Roadshow Gold Class Cinemas, a luxury cinema experience and new way to go to the movies; and Pinstripes, Chicago’s own bowling, bocce and bistro concept. An upscale mix of fashion apparel brands, home furnishings, restaurants and other retailers will occupy spaces set amidst fountains, pathways and plazas  -- all less than a mile from the four-way interchange at I-90 (the region’s major transportation artery), at the highly coveted intersection of Illinois Routes 59 and 72. The center is a joint venture between The Jaffe Companies in Northbrook, Ill., and RREEF Alternative Investments, based in New York.

The Jaffe Companies, owner and developer of The Arboretum of South Barrington, has been developing successful shopping centers and mixed-use projects for nearly three decades across the US, primarily in the Midwest. Firm principal Michael Jaffe has been involved in several notable projects, including Huebner Oaks Center, a 400,000-square-foot lifestyle center in San Antonio, Texas; Geneva Commons, a 450,000-square-foot lifestyle center in Geneva, Ill; and The Arboretum Shopping Center in Austin, Texas.

RREEF Alternative Investments, the financial partner in developing The Arboretum of South Barrington, is the global alternative investment management business of Deutsche Bank’s Asset Management division. RREEF Alternative Investments consists of three businesses: Real Estate, Infrastructure and Private Equity. Headquartered in New York, RREEF Alternative Investments employs more than 1,400 investment professionals in 17 cities around the world to help investors meet a wide range of objectives – from diversification, to preservation of capital, to long-term performance. Named one of the world’s largest alternative investments managers in Global Investor/Watson Wyatt’s Alternative Survey, June 2008, RREEF has €55.2/$87.0 billion in assets under management worldwide as of June 30th, 2008.
