Guise, an upscale men’s clothing store and grooming salon in Lincoln Park, was an early entrant into what is now a popular destination for men – smaller boutiques designed to make shopping a more relaxed, enjoyable experience.
Guise is unique however in offering head-to-toe shopping and grooming services all in one place.
Entrepreneurial owner Brad Habansky left his IT sales career to create this one-stop experience for men who don’t like to shop, men who need help finding their look, and men seeking fitted, well-made clothing that suits their classic style of dressing. The laid-back style of the staff will make shoppers feel at ease.
The clothing collections at Guise have classic, clean lines and are wearable beyond one-season only. No over-the-top trends here. Selections are appropriate for going to work and going out afterwards and are displayed by “what works together,” making it easy to build a wardrobe, from casual to formal attire. Stop in for a well-edited selection of coats, suits pants, jeans, dress and casual shirts, sweaters, shoes, and accessories. Sizes currently favor fitter body-types.
Brad brings international styles and harder-to-find designers to Chicago. Some of his favorite finds include Scandinavian lines Filippa K and J. Lindenberg where he likes the great cuts and clean, minimal look. Another favorite for more casual styles is the west coast brand Band of Outsiders.
One of the trends he's scooped up is raw denim, available in Kicking Mule and Nudie brands, that basically molds to your body after a few washings. Acne, Ernest Sewn, and BYA (a local designer), are some of the other denim lines that meet the fit, comfort, and minimalist style preferred in this store.
The store is casual, loft-like, with a small bar and TV’s. The front of the store houses a popular men’s salon for haircuts ($45), hair color, shaving, or manicures. Stop in Monday-Thursday before 2 pm for 25% off haircuts.
Need grooming products? They’ve done the work for you in finding some of the best products on the market. Brands include The Art of Shaving, eShave, skin care by Destinations, and hair products by Kusco Murphy, John Alan, and Lock, Stock & Barrel.
Coming soon. Guise will be expanding its collections with larger sizes and lower price points. Among the new clothing lines will be Edun, organic clothing produced in Africa. And don't miss their big sales events in January and July which offer savings of 25-70% off regular prices.
If you haven’t yet discovered Guise, they are open everyday for a unique one-stop shopping experience. Creating your individual style just got easier.
