Be Your Own Handbag Designer in this Creative Design Studio

Move over Marc Jacobs and Kate Spade, there’s a new designer in town. And a new place to realize our designer dreams.

This charming, colorful studio on two floors of a Lincoln Park brownstone will help you custom-design your own unique handbag in three easy steps.

The first step is choosing from a selection of styles, each named for friends of the creator.  You'll have a lot of choices, ranging from large, perfect for mommies, to small, great for money and makeup. Prices for handbags range from $58 to $135. Pre-made wallets and coin purses start at $25.


The second step may take you a lot longer, choosing from a huge selection of well-made, luxurious fabrics in a profusion of textures, colors and patterns, silks, classic tweeds, or trendy prints.

The choices are abundant.  Fabrics are available in limited quantities, and are changed regularly to ensure the uniqueness of every handbag.



The third step is finishing off your handbag with handles and trims. But should you feel overwhelmed by all these decisions, the store's helpful and patient staff can help you make the perfect choice.  

The fourth step? It's literally out of your hands, since your bag is sent for completion to the store's production facilities in downtown Chicago. You’ll have your custom-designed handbag back and ready to show off in three weeks.


1154 Lill is a popular destination for brides-to-be. Several handbag styles are best sellers for bridal gifts, and in-studio designing parties offer a great way to bond before the big day. The store gives a 10% discount to bridal orders of five or more handbags.

The spacious second-floor studio can be reserved for large parties and festive occasions. Reservations are recommended. 



1154 Lill recently relocated to their new location on Armitage Ave., which is more spacious than the previous one on Halsted St. The company also has locations in Boston and Kansas City, and offers in-home parties through independent sales representatives.
