Cuff Luv

Cuff Luv Helps to Cure Wardrobe Blahs

Want to update your look without spending a ton of cash? Or are you just bored with your current array of accessories? Whatever the case, you can try adding Cuff Luv’s detachable cuffs, scarves, and collars to your wardrobe – they’re a simple, inexpensive way to up your daily style quotient without breaking the bank.

Designer and entrepreneur Julie Sloan Lowenbaum first came up with the idea for her cuffs one and half years ago because she was uninspired by the current trends. “After years of accumulating basic tees, shirts, and jackets, I found myself bored and unwilling to spend a fortune on the season’s newest looks as a cure” she says.

Her very first cuff creation came as a result of wearing a ruffled blouse that peeked out from under a jacket. “The next time I wore the jacket, minus the ruffled blouse, my outfit just didn’t have the same pop. So I took a risk and cut off the ruffled cuffs off the blouse and used them as an accessory again and again.” After receiving tons of compliments, Julie knew that she had a potential hit on her hands and soon Cuff Luv cuffs were born.

Although she got started with ruffled cuffs (and those are still her most popular items), Julie soon added matching scarves, collars, and sleevettes to her inventory. “You can wear the cuffs and collars together, and it looks like you’re wearing a chic blouse underneath your jacket or sweater.”

Besides being extremely comfortable – the Cuff Luv pieces won’t bunch up like another layer will – they’re significantly cheaper than actual shirts. They are also great for travel, thanks to their small size and inability to wrinkle. Plus you’ll cut down on your dry-cleaning bill!

One of Julie’s most popular items is the Wardrobe Rehab kit. A set of her most versatile cuffs in black, white, and ivory, this kit provides an instant style boost for anyone whose wardrobe is in need of rejuvenation.

Other items available from Cuff Luv include elegant shawls and faux-fur cuffs for boots – an excellent winter accessory. “It’s an excellent place to look for gifts” claims Julie. “The amount of variety ensures there’s something to suit most everyone’s taste, and all of the items are one size fits all.”

This fall, Julie is adding more grays and browns to her mostly neutral collection. “One of my favorite new styles is a chocolate brown and black taffeta ruffled cuff with a matching scarf.” Another highlight is a sheer black evening wrap that’s made from several layers so that it can be worn in multiple ways. She also has animal prints, polka dots, and dramatic, bell-shaped “sleevettes” for those who like to take fashion risks.

Besides local fashion events (like the See More Shopping Events), you’ll find Cuff Luv at Mint Boutique in Lincoln Park, Temptations and Gray in Glencoe, and several other boutiques in the Chicagoland area.
