An Ideally Perfect Shopping Experience

In the dictionary, "utopia" is an imaginary place, a site of unreal perfection. But for those of us who want to be on top of fashion, yet not by the overly trendy “Forever 21” standards, Utopia is very real and very close to perfect.  

The inspiration of owner Kim Fedowicz, Utopia was one of the first boutiques of its kind in the notably family-friendly, kid-focused community of LaGrange. From the start, the shop has been an oasis of higher-end fashions in the western suburbs. Today, there are several more boutiques that have followed its lead along La Grange Rd., but Fedowicz’s Utopia still reigns supreme.

Utopia is not the place to go for “in one season out the next” disposable trends. You won’t find them here. What you will find are must-have fashion staples that will stand the test of time for seasons to come, like trendier pieces from Sanctuary and Free People or more classic pieces from Isda & Co. or Wendy Hil. Utopia offers a variety of well-made clothes for both the fun and the practical label lover.  

But there's even more to Utopia. The shop carries a small selection of hot handbags, cute shoes, unique jewelry, and even a few adorable kids' items. Their items are totally irresistible. In other boutiques you might find yourself standing among 100 different purses, yet only one will catch your eye. At Utopia, though you see just a handful of bags, you will want to leave with all of them.  

And for the bargain-hunter in all of us, Utopia’s sale rack cannot be beat. Unlike many sales racks, where items are usually out of season, completely out of style, or only slightly marked down, at Utopia you can nab hot designer pieces for $10-$30 that are still selling at regular prices elsewhere.

Utopia began as a little-known shop most likely stumbled upon by local moms wheeling by with their toddlers. Just a few years later, it has become a shopping destination for savvy, fashion-conscious women who know good clothes and aren’t afraid to buy them, while continuing to keep the locals hip and happy.
